History:
The NAAAHR was formed by a coalition of seventeen local organization of African American Human Resource professionals (and consultants) from any cities across the country. The organization was officially chartered at the September 1998 annual conference co-sponsored by the Baltimore Black Human Resources Network and the Washington DC Black Human Resources Network.
The focus of the organization is to serve as a network, resource and forum for African American Human Resource professionals. Membership in the organization is open to any HR professional, line manager, consultant or student working in or studying the field of HR and affiliate disciplines. Many members are also active in local SHRM chapters, the OD Network and ASTD but find that NAAAHR and their local affiliate chapter is a value-added resource for professional and personal development.
DC NAAAHR was formed in March 2005 as a NAAAHR affiliated Interest Group. Our initial goal was to provide an avenue for African American Human Resource Professionals to discuss challenges that are particular to people of color in all facets of the workforce today. DC NAAAHR was established as an official Chapter of the NAAAHR in 2007.
